Coaching: Athletics

Do you need a specific training plan for a goal race?

Are you a newbie looking to do your first 5k or an experienced triathlete looking to complete your first Ironman?

Do you need accountability in completing workouts?

Do you want feedback on your progression?

Do you need help with swimming or running technique?

Are you afraid of an open water swim?

Would you like help setting goals to progress to a larger goal?

I can help!

I have been coaching beginners to competitive age group athletes for 15 years. My athletes' goals range from training to complete their first 5k to bettering their time at their next Ironman. I have worked for local Boulder coaching companies D3 Multisport and Fastforward Sports as well as Boulder High School's cross country and track teams. Under the guidance of triathlon pioneer, Sally Edwards, I worked as a coach for Heartzones and Danskin Triathlon Training Programs. From 2000-2002 I was an assistant cross country and track coach for DePauw University. I coach because I love to see other people challenge their limits and meet their fitness goals.

Testimonials

quote-topAmanda is a coach I would highly recommend. She catered to my sporadic work schedule and often had to rearrange my workouts. Though I was a less than ideal client & tough to schedule, she continuously motivated me.quote-bottom

quote-topAmanda has been my triathlon coach for 7 years. She has been a great help as I train for various running events (5K to marathon) and several triathlons a year (sprint to iron distance). She is always tuned in to my goals and mindful of my age (63) and limiting issues (be they physical, time-related, emotional, etc.). My training plan has plenty of workouts that are both within my reach and challenging and an appropriate amount of rest and easy days. Amanda is readily accessible by email, text, phone or in-person when I have questions or concerns, and will adjust my training plan if needed. She listens to my suggestions, soothes my worries, and supports me throughout.quote-bottom

"You can outdistance that which is running after you, but not what is running inside you."

~ Rwandan proverb

quote-topAmanda coached me through my first triathlon and beyond. She took a non-swimmer who hadn’t run in years and turned her into a triathlete. Crossing that first finish line was so empowering, and I never could have succeeded without the support and encouragement of a creative and caring coach. Along with strong knowledge of and talent in running, swimming, and biking, she brings ability to teach. Amanda has that special gift for helping those she coaches reach their potential, no matter where they are when they begin. It’s a rare gift and I’m grateful that I heeded the call, “Who wants to do a triathlon?” of such a wonderful coach.quote-bottom

quote-topDespite all the excuses, missed workouts, and travel, all of your base training helped me have the reserves to pull off my best results ever. I could not possibly be any happier. I owe that all to you and your training program. Finally, I wanted you to know that last year after this race, my family and friends all recall that I was laid up with ice packs all over my legs and knees. This year I am full of energy and doing fantastic with no pains, strains or overall fatigue. Thank you for making my dream comes true!quote-bottom

quote-topAmanda is an exceptional coach. She has the desire and determination to motivate but also the compassion to understand that I am a human and I also have a life in addition to my training. I like her hands on approach - she asks me for suggestions and adjusts as needed. She understands my goals and works with me to reach them. I'm very impressed and would highly recommend her to anyone with any goal- she will get the job done!quote-bottom
